Katie Paterson

Katie Paterson (b. 1981) is born in Glasgow and based in London and Berlin. She recently exhibited in Altermodern: Tate Triennial, Tate Britain, London, and has had solo shows at Albion, London and Modern Art Oxford, 2008.

In several of her works, Katie Paterson reflects on the relationship between humanity and the universe. In All the Dead Stars the artist has etched a map of the 27,000 dead stars that have been discovered in the universe, so far. Every dot corresponds to a star. To help out with the mapping, the artist has enlisted astronomers, astrophysicists and supernova hunters, people specialised in tracking dead stars.
