Autumn 2010 at Bonniers Konsthall

Bonniers Konsthall’s main autumn exhibition is the group show Scene Shifts – a meeting between art and theatre. The exhibition is a unique collaboration with the Royal Dramatic Theatre and joins leading international artists with Sweden’s best known actors. During three intense months, the exhibition will continuously give rise to new works and performances – both in Bonniers Konsthall’s galleries and on the Royal Dramatic Theatre’s stages. In addition to this, Bonniers Konsthall presents exhibitions with the young Norwegian artist Ida Ekblad and The Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation's Grant Recipients.

Scene Shifts (29 Sep-9 Jan) will discuss the interest for theatre displayed by contemporary artists. The exhibition presents works by 12 artists who work in the interface of performance, theatre, film, sculpture, painting and drawing. The participating artists come from different parts of the world and they all belong to a new generation of internationally renowned artists: Pablo Bronstein, Miriam Bäckström, Keren Cytter, Inci Eviner, Gabriela Fridriksdottir, Ragnar Kjartansson, Ylva Ogland, Christodoulos Panayiotou, Lili Reynaud-Dewar, Pietro Roccasalva and Kristine Roepstorff among others. In collaboration with the Royal Dramatic Theatre actors including Björn Granath, Rebecca Hemse and Johan Rabaeus, the artists will create works especially for the exhibition at Bonniers Konsthall and the Royal Dramatic Theatre.

In Scene Shifts, mechanical theatre meets musical movies, and cutting-edge contemporary art walks hand in hand with Shakespeare. The exhibition aims to be a space that enables an encounter between contemporary art and theatre. Here, artists who work with changing and mobile works, which do not fit into traditional exhibitions, will be provided with an opportunity to be seen and find their audience. The exhibition will be constantly changing and offer new performances and shows. A full programme with a complete list of participants will be presented in the autumn.

Bonniers Konsthall begins its autumn season with the young Norwegian artist Ida Ekblad (27 Aug-24 Oct), who will hold her first exhibition in Sweden. Ida Ekblad will create new works especially for the exhibition, which will cover everything from expressionistic painting to metal sculptures to poems written by the artist. During summer and autumn, Ida Ekblad will work on site in Stockholm and collect material for her sculptures from the city’s streets, containers and scrapyards.

The season ends in the traditional manner, with our regular exhibition of works by recipients of grants from the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation (21 Nov-9 Jan). Those represented are currently some of Sweden’s most interesting young artists. This year’s grant recipients will be announced on 21 November.
